My brother-in-law got POA several years ago. He was paying himself $1000 a week to take care of my father-in-law before he went into a nursing home. He continued to pay himself to date for visiting him in the nursing home. He sold my father-in-laws house after he quick claim deeded it to himself. He took another 7 acre piece of property that had a $40K and $60K offer on them and instead purchased it for himself for $3K with the promise of when he sells it in the future he would divide it amongst the siblings. He will not produce any records for any transactions and we have been very patient. When confronted lately he says he doesn't have good records and is not willing to share any info with the other siblings. He also had sued his daughter's insurance company and settled for $100K from an auto accident that himself and his father were in when she was driving. The father-in-law has been in a nursing home for several years and the other siblings had voted to have all assets sold to take care of him for life, but the brother has instead sold everything and gotten things in his name so that the nursing home now has to depend on Medicare. We have been patient, but now feel we need to expose this and take legal action if necessary. Looking for advice as to where to start. We do have some financial records from before and when the brother took over the finances. Please advise.

Get a lawyer. You're going to need one to nail this guy to the wall.

The family members might want to get together ASAP and have themselves named as guardian or committeeship or whatever you have in your state, and revoke the rogue's power of attorney.
