These guys Pressler & Pressler/New Century Financial Services have 2 judgements against me in the state of NJ which i recently found out they were serving me at an address I've never lived at , where I have lived for the last 20 years, In august i got served by a US marshall in the state of NY where I work, and they are now garnishing my check. When i looked at the original garnishment they served me in the state of NY at an address to which i've never lived. Remember they have judgements against me in the state of NJ, to which I have never found who is the original creditor is none of the information is attached to the original complaint nor will they send it to me. The question is how do I stop the NY garnishment?, if I file for an RJI which is a REQUEST FOR JUDICIAL INTERVENTION I can't afford an attorney and the fee is $140 I don't want to pay that if it's not going to stop the garnishment until we get into court, the court doesn't have personal jursdiction, does that stop the garnishment until we go to court and how were they serving me at an address i've never lived at and able to obtain a judgement against me.

You should be able to get the case number. You have to look up the NY judgment to see if it was also predicated on improper service. My guess is that there is a NY judgment and then they perfected it in the state of New Jersey. If service was improper then you likely need to bring an order to show cause to vacate the judgment. An RJI isn't going to help you if it's just a matter of postponing the inevitable. After all, if the judgments were valid, what's the point in just postponing collection?
