i moved into an apartment where a previous tenant had left a weight bench. when contacted he told us he had sold it to a friend who was having trouble getting it picked up. i am having a hard time moving my stuff in completely because it is large and takes up the living room. i gave him a date that it had to be picked up by or i was throwing it out and now hes saying if i do ill be responsible for paying back the $300. am i liable or is it my property since he left it or will it become my property after the given time frame. it has already been over a month

Send him a certified letter, return receipt requested, stating that he owes your $600 for having his junk hauled off. Demand payment within ten days.

I doubt that you ever hear from him again.

After sixty days, sell the thing or junk it.

Keep copies of everything.

This is not legal advice!

Hey,

Get in touch with the landlord of the premises and let him know the situation, tell him you would like the item removed ASAP, as you have done all you can in your power and the item is still there. Ask the landlord if he can give you written permission to leave the item outside of the property. This item dose not become yours but the right of space you are renting is.
Make sure all your corrispondance is in writing and Seniorjudge is correct, keep copies of everything.

One other thing please do not send me personal messages, as a general rule the personal messages are for the administrator to contact us.

Good luck.

Take care.
