I worked for a company as a company truck driver for 7 years. I was let go about a month ago. I left my personal belongings in the company truck when I came home 8 hours away. The safety man at my prior company told me he would ship my items and not to worry about them. After calling several times they finally shipped the items approx. 2 weeks later. They shipped them via UPS. When they did ship them, they sent them to our prior address, not the current one. They have our correct address on file because I receive my paycheck stubs at the correct address. We have postmarks dating back to May with the correct address. After finding they had went to our prior address, we went there. The new tenants at our old address told us that they never received any items. After several attempts by us and UPS to retreive the items, the items are lost forever. The value of these items is approx. $2500 to replace. I have been dealing with the President of the company and he is saying that I should take half of the responsibilty because I left the items there. However, they shipped my items to the wrong address when they had the correct one. I have sent him a list of all the items left in the truck. Should my prior company be held responsible for replacing those items/paying for them?

1. Hard to say for sure. I don't know who is ultimately responsible.

2. Why did they send the items to your old address? Was this the result of negligence? This is probably a major issue in your complaint.

3. Doesn't UPS have a record of who signed for the package?

4. Why wasn't the package insured if you knew the items were worth over $2,000?
