I know this may be similar to some others, but the vehicle I got is a 92, and had 17X,XXX amount of miles. Found on craigslist, was told it ran great and etc. After making the purchase, within 20 minutes the radiator blew. I called him and he came out to assess the vehicle. He said its just the radiator and helped pitch in half of the costs for the part and he would put it in. So we did, and not 5 minutes after the repairs the car started to overheat. He came out the next day telling me his "mechanic" friends told him it was the thermostat. He came over at 9am till about 4:30pm trying to find the thermostat. He took things apart, went to the auto store and dealership asking for advise of how to fix. Overall he never found it, and eventually put water in there and it seemed fine. After driving it for more than 10-20 mins, the car overheats and smokes out the muffler. Telling him of the problems now he doesn't want to have anything to do with it.

I took the car to a shop and was told it needs major repairs because the radiator wasn't put on correctly, and has a cracked head gasket. (the seller is not a mechanic) I purchased the car for $1850 and repairs are looking into over $2000.

Just curious if I have a chance in small claims court, I am a student and I really do not wish to waste anyone's time if they are just going to say I'm out of luck.

you are outta luck, this is a used car and they are sold as is.

This man was actullay pretty nice to come help you, because he is not liable for it after you bought it. Next time take a mechanic with you before you buy any used car, even if you get it from a dealer.
