Probate Lawyer Disbarred

My mother passed away in 2008.My sister and I retained a lawyer to probate the will.One year and three months later I have found out the attorney has been disbarred.We have no idea if he had even started on the probate,and for the last six months he has not returned any calls or emails.The estate is in Florida and my sister is the administrator.I live in Tennessee.What should our next step be?

The next step is up to your sister as she is administrator. Probably she should retain another probate lawyer, get the file from the disbarred guy (if there is one), and do whatever remains to be done. Same as if she was still using the original lawyer. I would suggest she look very carefully at the estate accounts.

Thank you.That is pretty much what I thought.There was only real estate involved,so I think the only money we are out is the fees that were already paid.I doubt he's done anything,as he seems to have been very busy embezzling money from his other clients trust funds.Thanks for your time.
