I was helping some find his uncle:angel who died in California 31 years ago (in 1976). Upon receiving the death certificate, it showed that the uncle was "single" and the informant was the public administrator, which makes me guess that he died single and without any wife nor children.

Q1: How do I go about to confirm whether he had any children (offspring), legal or illigitimate.

Q2: Is it necessary to contact the Public Administrator's office and/or the cemetary?

Q2: His Japanese nephew had been looking for this uncle for many years, but lost all contact with him after WWII. In my search and I was able to get the death certificate. At this point in time (31 years later), how does one go about to check if there was any inheritance left by this uncle. Is there a statute of limitation on probate cases like this?

Q3: According to the DC, the uncle was buried in a grave, so would the Cemetary management office have such information, about his next-of-kin or inheritors?

Q4: Could anyone tell me what the process is for something like this?

Thanks in advance! Any advice would be helpful.

Marian

You may be able to see if he ever was married by looking for a marriage certificate which is public record and from there birth certificates by the parents name. Have you tried geneology websites...they may be able to tell you how and where to search.
