Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Probation for Retail Theft in pa and then violation

My 20 year old son was sentenced for retail theft in pa misdeamor 1. Sentence probation 3 years. He was arrested for DUI in April 2007. DUI case 6 months probation and fine. He has been in County Prison with a detainer on his probation violation. I have been in contact with lawyers and states probation officier has not returned calls. We now have a hearing on 12/13/07. What should I expect at this hearing?

Bless your heart. I'm no lawyer, but I've learned a bit from working with a criminal defense attorney who is helping a friend of mine with her shoplifting of $200 of merchandises.

Is it an appearance hearing? If so, then the court will read out the formal charges brought against your son at that hearing. You will also have to make a plea - either, Innocent, Not Guilty, Guilty, or No Contest (i think).

If you have an attorney, always declare Not Guilty.
