My ex roommate broke the lease a year ago, she was given 4 months to get her stuff out of the house after she removed herself from the lease. She showed up 1 wk after the expiration of said 4 mos. I let her in and she took approx 1/4 of her small stuff, she was then given 1 more wk to get her big items out. Prior to this date her parents asked for permission to take the heirloom items, and it was granted, at this time I was informed that the property was her parents and that if she didn't get it, I could have it. The lease that she was on expired 10-31-06, and at that point I contacted her parents as I had no way of reaching her to give her/them one last chance to get the stuff out. A month later No call No show. Last night at 9:30pm the cops show up at my house saying that she is demanding entrance to get her property and asking me to let her in. I found some small momentos and such that I put out on the front step so that she could pick them up, but I don't want her in my house ever again. When she skipped out on the lease, she also stole from me, court date is set for 4/19/07. My new roommate knows her, and doesn't want her in the house either. I'd like to know what my Rights are in this case? She provided notice that she was breaking the lease and paid rent for her 60 day notice, but that was it. I feel that I had given her more than enough time to get her stuff out, so why should I allow a known theif in my house now.

Send the bad person a $500.00 for disposing of the trash the bad person left behind.

Send it certified mail, return receipt requested.

You will never hear from that person again.

Ok, thank you for that advice.
So I'm taking that to mean that she has no rights to any of her belongings that remain at the premesis.

Hmmm...where did you find that in my post?

Sorry for reading too much into your post SeniorJudge. Thanks for the info. The DA is handling it now, as she tried breaking into my house this morning.
