I am preparing to field a question regarding Living Trusts, and realized I need the most current copy of such to provide accurate input. The Trust has been restated one time, that I know of, since the copy I now have was valid , and I have not been forwarded a new copy. I have the document title; do I head to the County Recorder, the law firm which restated the Trust, or ? What other than a valid I.D. should I expect to profer in order to receive a copy? The Trust is within Orange County, CA.
Thanks for any help-

You need to ask the current trustee for a copy of the latest version of the trust.

The general practice is that trusts are NOT recorded in the land deed records for the simple fact that it is no one's business what is in the trust.

California may have different rules.

Thank you for clearing that up. Problem though, is the current trustee has not responded to request(s) for a copy of the latest version of the trust, nor stating the name of law firm that was engaged to produce restated trust.
I am researching the CA rules in regard to L.T.s, long night, so far it seems that the trustee is not acting in the best interest of the Trust, which indicates that the trustee is in conflict with their fiduciary responsibility and their own best interest.
Time for a pro to take over? I was hoping to proceed further on my own, it is difficult to find material in regard to non-performance of trusteeship, etc.
Again, thank you for your time.

Time for you to get a lawyer.

That was inevitable, as I am burning your time and way too much of mine. One last question, Judge? Would you recommend retaining an "expert" or specialist in the field? There are quite a few around here, but a great portion seem to put the hype on their shingle. My current lawyer is great, but not too familiar with Trusts. His referral was not acceptable.
Thank you-

You need to hire someone who knows what he's doing whether it's a plumber or a lawyer.
