Professional License Dilema

I have a Nursing License. In 2003 my license was suspended for six months followed by a 2 year probation period due to an ethical reason that resulted from a judgment call I made. This wasn't like a malpractice. I ended up serving 3 of the six months suspension. Since then I have never had any other problem. I have since obtained advanced degrees. I have always worked for the same hospital, in different capacities, and my employer is very okay with me because they know fully what happened - I was the head of a team and I took the rap for my team when something went bad. I figured the others will be worse off with a blot on their license. I never gave it another thought until recently. Last week I went to interview for a position I really wanted at another hospital. At the end of the meeting, the recruiter told me I was the absolute perfect person for the position ...she was going to set up a meeting with the Nursing Director to finalize my employment and set up a schedule for orientation. Then on the next breath she said, "this little thing on your license, it's been a very long time... isn't there a way you can take care of it?". Next day I received an email from her saying she met with the Director and they cannot proceed any further. Please anyone, what can I do I to cure this problem and get it off my record?

You'll probably never be able to remove a sanction on a professional license. Those are public records. They are available for the public to see.

If lawyers, physicians, plumbers, contractors, teachers get sanctioned, the sanction never goes away. The only time I've seen it removed, is when that is part of the original sanction.
