I was recently stopped by police and searched,they found a laptop computer on me, I showed them the receipt for it but they still took me in for burglary investigation.When they finally let me go after 16 hours they kept the laptop and receipt.Is there a way I can get my property back.

I suspect that the Police are still investigating the alledged crime(s). You can certainly ask the Police for the item(s) back or how long they plan to keep them?

Did you give them permission to take your laptop and receipt?
