This may be pointless, but I don't know, that's why I'm here. I live in Phoenix,Az I had a new ragtop put on this 1961 VW bug that I have been restoring. When I picked it up the owner of the shop said he had to screw it shut because one it has no locking mech. and two not to open it for a little while ie: at least 1 day because the glue had to set. After getting it home I immedeatly put it in the Garage because I had other things to be done. Well 3 days later I roll it out and take the screws out and the top falls off of the track. So after taking a closer look I see that the custom paint I just had done was damnaged scratches (from them prying the rails off w/ out heat) I called the owner and he is completly unreasonable and he told me he is not responsable for the damnaged paint or the top not functioning. I asked if he used heat like I told him he said
"no," He said, "I used a putty knife to pry the rails off." He told me that the rag top was apart when I brought it to him and he is not responsable for the funtion of it well this is what I paid him to do. So now Im left with a ragtop which will cost me 800.00 to rapair the damnaged rails and a 2000.00 paint job that will have to be redone due to the custom color and duplication issues. What do I do just eat the money or is there something that can be done about this. I filled out a dispute form with my credit card company, but that will cover his cost not even close to the cost of the repairs that need to be done.
