My employer insist that we are not to have any personal belongings on our persons while on the clock, I am often off site and away from my place of work, yet I am still expected to leave my belongings in the backroom. However, the back room we are to keep our belongings in has numerous other employees walking in and out, and there is no secured place to keep my purse from other individuals from accessing it. Many times I have come back to my belonging to find them moved or heavy objects placed on top of them. At times I have my laptop, IPod, and other damageable items in my purse. I use public transportation to work (so leaving my belongings in my car is not an option for me), and some days I am coming straight from school to my work, and I need my laptop for school purposes those days.
Can I sue my employer for not providing a safe place to store my belongings if any loss or damages occur?
