I'm considering being a private sperm donor & I live in Utah. I would like some protection from paternity / child support suits and whatnot in this situation. I'm wondering if the only protection available on this type of thing is via anonymous shipping to a recipient who I've only had anonymous email contact with?

I would like some protection from paternity & child support lawsuits.

I know there are sperm donor contracts, but I have no idea if they are legal in Utah. I also know that people can sign up to be donors at sperm banks, but I'm one year over their limit.

At this point the only method I can see is stating online that I am drug & disease free on a relevant private donor forum & via some private donor group, receiving proposals for donations, and then figuring out who is going to pay for the specimen shipping kit. If they agree to pay for it, then it's a problem to arrange for them to either pay me for shipping it to them (& for me to obtain the kit in the first place), or for them to ship to me a postage-prepaid kit which I would use & ship back to them --- all the while remaining anonymous.

I suppose the only hope for a man who's interested in being an anonymous private donor is to eat the costs of mailing out donations to prospective recipients - at about $100 to $130 a pop. And I know that such a prospect sounds kind of funny. But people are interested in being donors for various reasons.

I am interested, but I don't want to be sewed for paternity or for child support when they agreed up front that I'd just be a donor. My brief research online revealed that it's tricky for private sperm donors to not be sucked into legal problems. And maybe Utah is even more of a problem on this type of thing.

Thanks.

You are right, this is tricky. There is some protection if you go to a normal facility because then it is a medical procedure. You really should see an attorney to see what they say. I am curious why would somebody want an anonymous spern donor when they know nothing about your medical background? It does cost more to use a sperm bank but then medical background checks are also done. Are you over the age limit to donate to a sperm bank?

yes by one year

Yes I'm over by one year. I may consider asking locally, or just putting myself out there - with copies of relevant medical tests with my name blocked out. It's worth noting that there's some guy out of California who openly lists his name & home address on his donor web site. So I guess in some states it's not that big of a deal as facilitated via a donor contract.
