I made a poor decision last week, now I'm not sure what to do. I was walking from my car to a college van and had an open can of beer. I got a non-traffic ticket (municiple) the officer noted public intoxication on it. he didn't give me a breath test. I told him I only had 2 sips, and asked for a warning since I never had this happen before. I'm 56, never got in trouble with the law, now I'm concerned as I don't want this on my record. I wondered if I should talk to a public attorney? I have not got a court date yet, but expect it soon. I also looked up on the net but could not find any Illinois laws on public intoxication. I will admitt guilt to have the open beer, but I was definetly NOT intoxicated as noted on the ticket. any advice appreciated. Gary

I know you can't give advice here, but I would like to know what to expect , I have never been in this situation before. Not sure if going in, if I'm honest and tell the judge I made a bad decision, apologize, and based on a clean record if he will go easy on me, I have no problem paying the fine, I just want my record to stay clean. what do you suggest? G
