Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication public intoxication

i received a public inotoxication and spent the night and jail and fined 500 big ones. i got the ticket after i left a bar in athens and was going to find a taxi. the people at the jail said the cop was probably just being an a-hole. my question is how can i get this charge dropped? also i don't understand this law whatsoever. how is there not thousands of college kids in jail every night?

The cop probably was being a jerk but it doesn't mean you didn't violate the statute. Simply because other people were breaking the law doesn't mean you have the right to do so. Was the officer wearing his uniform in the bar and not enforcing the law until all of a sudden he decided to arrest you?
