Pulled over for Negligent Driving – WA
This past Friday (June 17) I was pulled over for negligent driving. I was speeding at 98 mph in a 70. I was pulled over outside of Ritzville. I do admit I was speeding, but I was following a car that was also speeding at the same rate of speed. The state patrol that pulled us over was an unmarked car. He sped ahead and pulled over the lead car that was speeding. I was following up a ways back and he jumped into traffic lanes and signaled me to pull over. I obliged and he wrote me a neg. driving ticket.
I had a neg. driving ticket back in April of 2001. When I received that ticked my insurance company (Grange) made an exclusion of my name on the larger fleet policy. I was forced to find my own insurance company and I had to pay lots of fees etc etc etc. The yearly insurance renewal process goes into effect sometime around November. I was reciently (Fall 2004) allowed to return to the policy. I'm not sure if there were conditions on my return. It might have been 6 months clean record… it might have been a year clean. I'm not sure.
I don't want to go through that process again. Since that time I have heard of some ways of reducing or deferring tickets. I'm curious as to whether or not I can defer a negligent driving ticket? Reading some of the other topics on this forum it was stated that the fee it $75 or the value of my ticket which ever is higher. My neg. driving ticket is for $530. I really don't have that type of money to pay a ticket, but I can if it keeps it off my record and I don't have to find new insurance.
Can anyone fill in my missing information about deferring a ticket? Anyone have this type of incident on their record and have any experience that they would mind sharing? I really appreciate your consideration.
