Pulled over for Speeding - CA

i got pulled over for speeding, 58 in a 45 zone. I dont have insurance but the cop didnt really ask me for it. He just asked for license and registration and he wrote me the ticket. I got a letter a few days later saying the fine was 114 dollars. If i pay the fine do i still have to go to court? maybe they will ask me for proof of insurance and thats what im most afraid of. Suggestions? This is my first ticket.

You really lucked out that he did not ask for insurance. That can be a major problem so you need to take care of that right away. There is no way you should be on the road without the proper insurance.

If this is your first ticket you are eligible for traffic school and can probably do it online. It is worth the extra cost to do the school and keep your license clean. You do not have to appear in court and they are not going to check for insurance. Be sure to get approval from the court, the procedure should be in the courtesy notice you received.
