hello and thanks for taking the time to read this.

almost 7 weeks ago I admitted to stealing over 15K from store name where I was employed, my reasoning was I was laid off from a 100K + year job and unemployemnt had errors and I was only able to make $250.00 a week workin full time and was loosing my house medical bills etc.

This does not make any of this right at all nor does it justify it but i felt extrmely guilty and cofessed to store Loss prevention. I signed a statement of what I did signed a civil recovery form and a civil demand form stating I would reimburse store name. Then they called the police and they took a report and statement and also took me to my house to recover some items then brought me back to my car and told me it would b e about 3 weeks until i received a letter from courts.

I retained a laywer immediatly but it has been almost 7 weeks and I have received anythign from the courts and only thign ive heard from store name is for the total amount owed to the company after calculated costs of returned items, in which they stated when I contacted them 3 times to not make payment to them but to wait for a letter from a 3rd party to make payments.

I am wondering if possibly they could have asked for charges not to be filed if I paid them because Loss prevation stated to me that if i did not comply with the civil recovery he would have a warrant issued for me.. Im hoping that this can be resovled wihtout criminal although im not holding my breathe because I will be recalled soon to my heavily licenced job which i was laid off from 15 months ago.

What makes me wonder if last year store name had 50K in employee theft and never pressed charges, that former employee paid back all money. I have not slept in 7 weeks abnd feel like the worlds awful person, I also have no previous criminal background inclduing no traffic violations, and 2 college degrees with 4.0, this was just an stupid act of desperation which I am desperatly trying to make right.

Thanks you for taking the time to read my very long story

Civil Demand letters can take months in some cases. Far as criminal charges there might be an inverstigation under way we hav eno way of knowing. Ask your Lawyer to pursue these questins as he is in best postion to get answers
