Question about messy engagement breakup

My fiance and I just split up. I gave her the ring and wedding band that I bought worth ~$4500. Her parents spent ~$7000 for the wedding that they cant get back. Now her mother is telling me that they are kepping the ring as a gift, and that I need to give them another $3500 or they will sue me for the whole $7000.

What do I need to do?

It depends on state law and usually who was at fault in the breakup. Normally you get the rings back. You would need some local attorney advice on your responsibility for the arrangements.
