Hello,

Had an aunt die in Boise, Idaho. A cousin has been named executor by the state of Idaho.

All the heirs are named in the will, there are 15 named and I am one of them

The estate assets were sent from Idaho over a year ago to the executor in Indiana.

What are issues with multi-state wills?
How long can she hold the estate without distribution?
What are our rights as heirs, how do we find out how much is in the estate and how can we get paid.

I contacted them by phone and sort of got the run around. What is the next step.

The estate lawyer in Idaho said the estate was worth close to $350,000.

So you can see we are interested.

The laws of Idaho, where the will is probated, govern its settlement.

I don't know specifically what those are, but an executor has a reasonable time (usually a year) in which to gather the assets and distribute to the beneficiaries. After a year, specific beneficiaries might be entitled to interest on their bequest.

Don't accept the "runaround". If you don't get an acceptable answer why the estate is not being distributed, consult an estates lawyer.

You can call the probate court and get a copy of the file for a small fee. That is where you need to start.
