Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Question on Statute of Limitations

I am an author and am currently working on a suspense story. My premise is that two individuals have stolen money from a NYC bank. My question: is there a statute of limitations with regard to theft or bank robbery? The theft occurred after hours, no one was hurt, injured, or held hostage.
