My wife and I are in the middle of an uncontested divorce. The divorce has really affected the children, although the mother and I are getting along. We have two children. One we share, and the other from a previous relationship of which I have full physical custody of. To make this situation easier, during the seperation I agreed to let the child I have custody of remain with the mother. However, my wife has requested guardianship of my daughter for the purposes of school registration and in the case of medical emergencies. I agree, but don't want to be stuck paying additional support for a child I have custody of. Do I have to file for guardianship, and if so what is the best way to go about it?
