Well last night i received a racing on highway ticket. I asked the cop how fast he got me going and he said they had a helicopter spot and film me. I was not street racing simply driving fast in a group of cars. This is my first traffic citation of any kind. My car was also immediately towed to the police forfeiture lot. The officer said i should be expect to get my car back sometime in the next month. In florida this charge carries a mandatory 1 year lose of license and up to a 1000 dollar fine. I have a lawyer and i am waiting for him to call. What are the chances the charges get dropped or be reduced? Also, im only 17.

If it is on film then you are hosed.
You won't likely get this dropped, but a reduction is always a possibility. You can probably kiss your license goodbye for awhile if you are found guilty of racing or reckless.

Your lawyer should be able to give you an idea of what he "might" be able to do for you in getting the charges reduced. (What your chances are, what you will need to do .......)

You may only be 17, but for this type of thing they'll treat you as an adult.

You need to work closely with your lawyer.

They may have the car on tape, but I doubt that the tape will reveal who was driving the car.

That said, make no statements, speak ONLY to your lawyer, and wait.

Also, obey ALL traffic laws.

Yes, your license is at risk.

If they take it, you MIGHT be able to apply for a hardship license.

But, you haven't lost yet.

You are innocent and pure, UNTIL they PROVE you to be guilty.

So, be patient and wait to hear from your lawyer.
