My daughter is on a privately owned cheerleading team. The owner/coach is doing a land contract with the building they are using. When she rented the building she was aware of no heating system. Since winter is coming and still no heat she had $5. raffle tickets made up for her heating system and handed them out to all the girls with the instructions that "ALL" tickets had to be sold or each girl has to pay $75. for their tickets not sold. It was also told to the girls that if they didn't sell any or come up with the money they would be kicked off the team. Can she legally do this seeings the building is (kind of) hers and her business? Seems pretty shady! Alot of the parents feel the same but I have called around this area and so far no one can answer me - please help!!
