Random Letter

My jurisdiction is: Virginia

My particular issue is one that I am not proud of. Last year I sent about 5-6 letters to 3 people and they were a male and a male/female couple. And I sent 3 of them to their work places. All of whom are related to each other. The letters contained random false information about the other at that time and during this time I had a psychotic disorder (in particular schizophrenia) and I didn't know it. I ended up sending the last 2 of the last 3 letters to couples' home. While I didn't send any messages of threats except for the last two where I stated my intials and name and asked the female to leave me alone, I don't know what actions might be taken. They did try to file a case against me in the County, they were not able at the time to collect the warrants from the county. I'm not exactly sure of the details as to why, but my honest guess is that it was due to my mental disorder. All of this happened last year in 2007. Since I clearly stated my name in one of the last letters I was thinking they might try and refile and possibly force me to take fingerprints to fully connect and convict me of these crimes. I wanted to know what possible actions might be taken at this current time by them and what actions do I need to take in order to best be prepared?

I would consult a local attorney on this matter, if you already have a attorney that knows the situation and your mental disorder(past or present) it could be much of nothing to be worried about. But if you think charges are going to be filed against you than it is best to already have a attorney that can speak for you so you do not increm. yourself.

As far as mental disorders go, it is an excuse in criminal matters, but an explanation in civil matters. That means, you are liable in civil court, even if you are schizophrenic, and didn't know right from wrong, etc.
