Reason for landlord access to unit

I've got a landlord who posted 24 notices to all tenants stating they will enter to take pictures for their trust attorneys. I spoke to the Cal Dept of Consumer Affairs & L.A. Housing Dept; both confirmed that a landlord cannot enter a unit for these reasons or take photos. The Calif. Landlord/Tenant handbook states they can enter for an emergency or repairs only. I sent a certified letter informing the landlord that I am not permitting access for the reason they gave. All the tenants received another 24 notice stating that the trust attorneys "determined that photos must be taken to verify the conditions of the building for the beneficiaries of the trust." I have not received a notice of foreclosure, sale, or transfer of this property by posting or mail. Landlord also claims the property is not for sale. It's apparent the landlord is totally ignoring my certified letter; I was just curious how someone would handle this situation........

I'd meet with the other tenants and if all agree, send another certified letter coming from all tenants. This letter should state the legal basis for disallowance of this type of entry. Tell that no tenant agrees to the unlawful entry and that legal action will be taken if the tenants' request are ignored.

Going alone may only antagonize the landlord against you. Thats my 2 cents...

Thanks Riptide. I found out several other tenants sent angry letters to the landlord as well. I watched the landlord enter half of the units and walk past mine and others today....looks like the landlord got a dose of common sense. Some people are so brazen. Sheesh.
