Monday August 11, 2008 I picked up several items from the County Evidence room that were to be turned; the former detective (now sergeant) on the case had reviewed the items and marked some items as destructible, the other items were place in a bin for auction. The officer on duty handed me several envelops and papers to sign off on stating I had received the items. We discussed my items that were supposed to be returned and I was told that the former detective had come into the office, they were told to destroy the other items. I requested a copy of the chain of events.
Now I am being called daily, at work, the detective has left a message stating that I had taken two items that I was not to receive. The former detective left a note stating I would be in to retrieve the items, note: the former detective reviewed the items to be released and had some destroyed and others placed in auction bin. I had no control of his actions or lack there of. I have not done anything wrong, and do not want false charges made against me. Please tell me if have unwittingly done something wrong. The forfeiture case was heard July 2, 2008. The courts decision had been sent out, part of the items I was to received was purposely destroyed and now I am told I have items in my possession that do not belong to me, but they gave to me.
