Reckless Driving

Ok I got a ticket for reckless driving. I admit I was doing wrong and it won't happen again. Well anyways I was in a friends car trying to do donuts or burnout in a parking lot right next to my work. It was actually the store parking lot of Goodys and Michaels.

I was arrested and taken to the police station and was given a ticket for reckless driving. I was talking with the officer who said that if I was in the back parking lot of Wal Mart (right next to Goodys) and their was less traffic he would have just yelled at me and let me go. I also believe the complaint came from Wal Mart security (kind of heard them talking about it). I also believe they called it in because of a black pickup truck was burning out. And just so happen caught me in the act. My friends car was going to be towed so he paid the tow truck driver 100 bucks to not have it towed, actually the officer told him he could do that, right after he said he has to call to have the car towed because of some law (that sounds fishy to me).

Well I was told by a friend, I could not get a traffic ticket in the parking lot because it's private property. Is this true? It's my first offence, basically it's my first traffic ticket and I am 31 years old. Any help would be great

Thanx Sam

Most parking lots have executed an agreement with the local police. Usually there is a requirement that a sign be posted but it depends on the state/jurisdiction. 31 and still doing doughnuts at WalMart. Boy things must be really slow where you live. Try graduating to girls and using the back parking lot.

Seriously reckless driving will do a lot of damage to your record and insurance. Look up the penalty for your state and go from there. If the judge will not reduce it then consider an attorney.
