My question involves a reckless driving ticket from the State of: VA (Loudoun County.)

I also have a license from virginia.

Ticket was for at fault accident. I assumed the 2 way stop to be a 4 way stop and was involved in a accident. Have clean VA and drivers record for past 8 years Never caused an accident before. No one from either party was injured in the accident.

Also police officer mentioned as "Reckless(Tolerable )" just below where he has mentioned Reckless in the ticket as he has no authority to mention the accident as Tolerable as per rules of Virginia.

Also, When I asked the police officer if he would mention to the Judge that it was tolerable, he said he has already mentioned the same in the report and he would be there at the court on the day.

My question is

1.) Do I need a lawyer? even though the police officer has mentioned hte same

2.) What are the chances that if I go and attend the hearing my self without a lawyer as cop has mentioned TOLERABLE in the report

Please advise.

If I had your problem, I'd hire a lawyer.
But, no need to rush to do that.
When you appear, plead NOT guilty.
The judge will ask about a lawyer.
You can ask him/her to appoint one to represent you; if you feel you can't afford to hire one.
No worries, because if he/she refuses to appoint one for you, you'll be given time to secure one.
This little charade can go on for a couple of months with you returning and begging for more time to get the money and hire a lawyer.
The longer you drag this out, the better things could be for you.
Remember, you're INNOCENT until proven guilty.
Eventually the judge will give you a stern lecture about hiring a lawyer.
When that happens you'll get one more chance to hire a lawyer.
But, once you hire the lawyer, he/she can play this little game for 3-6 more months.
Remember, all the while your insurance rates don't go up, and you're still INNOCENT!
And, who knows, your lawyer may just get you off, or a reduced charge.

For any one who are reading this,

Before the court Hearing, I took defensive driver exam and then went with the certificate

I Pleaded guilty with explanation with the judge and was given fine and Improper Driving.
