If someone is not doing as they were supposed to, according to a contract can i record them,"to document", if im holding the recorder in plain view.

Do i need to inform them?

Do i have to ask permission?

I recorded the call and informed them i was doing so, this seemed to have good results.

I was wanting to know, if i had my agreement changed, then the person i was recording said to me this agreement was authorized by the owner, is it enforcable?
or
should i get this in writing with the owners signature?

this is the problem, i was told the owner approved this, now im told today that a person that works for the company is reviewing my record, so it's pending approval.

when i was told it was approved, i asked by who, she said the owner, i said whats the owners name, she gave it, i said what exactly did he approve. she named everything i asked for.

If the recorder is obviously a recorder and is not being concealed, you might get away with it.

The issue is whether or not there is an expectation of privacy during the contact.

Then you might consider replicating the disclosure for the recorder. Without that admonition on the record, the other party can always claim, "I did not see any recorder."
