I bought a used boat in Texas and had it "surveyed" by a mechanic, who was recommended by the seller, specifically to look for dry rot in the hull. The mechanic stated in writing that he checked the hull and found no dry rot. I then brought the boat out to California and subsequently found it to have dry rot in the transom.
In addition, a couple of other small items that the mechanic was paid to do were performed poorly.
I am confident that the seller and his mechanic knew about the dry rot and other problems before I bought the boat and did not disclose them to me inspite of the fact that I asked them specifically.
Do I have any legal recourse?

How much did you pay for the boat?

I strongly suggest that you consult an attorney to seek damages for the items that were poorly repaired and for the failure to disclose. Good Luck!
