The omitted (missing) date doesn't matter.

They will get their pound of flesh.

All the city attorney (or county attorney) needs to do is amend the issue if you fight it.

You have two options.

One, hire an attorney.
That will run you about $500 in Tyler.
If you select the right attorney, this matter could get dismissed.

Or, she can plead guilty to the insurance offense, and ask for deferred adjusication.
It'll cost a little bit more, but it won't be on her record.
She will only need to sjow that coverage was ineffect on the date of the ciotation, or you remiedied shortly after.

The stop sign will then become her defensive driving class.
That's a lot cheaper.

Good luck.

Yes, show that you had insurance on the vehicle at the time of the incident and taht fine will drop to just a couple hundred for the red light violation. The fine for the red light will still have to be paid even if she is allowed to do traffic school, and there will be additional traffic school fees on top of that... but it will keep the incident off the insurance record.

In Texas when one does a defensive driving course, you don't pay the stated fine.

You pay a fee of about $100 to the court for the being allowed to do traffic school.

The driving course can cost no more than $25, which is paid directly to the school.

You then have 90 days to complete the school.

The court can, at its discretion, allow a 30 day extension with a good reason.

You can take a defensive driving class once every 12 months.

But, you can get as many deferred adjudications as you wish.

You can only have one deferred adjudication at a time for one offense.

You can't get a citation during the deferral period.

You pay the normal fine for this privilege.

If you stay citation free during the 90 day probationary period, the ticket is dismissed.
