I bought a new car in April 2014. My husband had to go back the next day to sign the papers. He was not given a copy of the paperwork. I then went back a couple days later to get copies of all the paperwork. Our financing guy was not there so the financing manager got me copies. A couple weeks later I got copies again in the mail. I did not inspect them. I just set them aside. Well yesterday, June 23, 2014, I needed to use the tire protection package I added. I got out the paperwork and found that I had been mailed another persons paperwork (sales agreement, financing paperwork, and all the extra protection agreements). And the copies of the paperwork I did receive did not have the contract information on them so I could not use the protection package I paid for. When I talked to the dealer yesterday they told me to come in and they would fix my tire (put the spare on). This was unacceptable to me, so they then told me to come in and they would give me a loaner and fix my tire in the morning.
My concern is that if I received someone elses paperwork, who has mine? I called the person whose paperwork I got and let him know the situation. I don't want to give that paperwork back since it is proof that they mailed the information to the wrong person. Since we have bought the car my husbands bank account has been compromised. Is this a coincidence or related? So my question is do we have any recourse with the dealer to have them pay for credit monitoring? Any recourse related not being able to use the tire package, having to drive out of my way to get a loaner car?
My biggest concern is for identity theft.
