The collections agency NCO Financial was hired by 1&1 Internet Services to collect an unpaid $30 bill for a website renewal on a business I closed over a year ago. I had canceled my services with 1&1 but apparently the account was never closed.

I have paid NCO the $30 1&1 Internet says I owe. I have a receipt this has been paid. But NCO will not remove the collection from my credit report. NCO says the company that hired them (1&1 Internet) must call them and tell NCO it's "OK" to remove this from my credit report. 1&1 Internet refuses to call NCO because the call will "Indemnify me" and admit guilt on 1&1's part that the claim was false - that I didn't owe them the money.

I'm jumping through hoops here! I must get this off my credit report as I'm trying to refinance my mortgage. Help!

Thanks!

Unfortunately paying does not remove it from your credit report. Most people thing it does and the collection agencies will tell you it does but as you have found out, it doesn't.

Send in a letter to all three CRA's disputing the entry. That is all you can do.
