I signed a lease when I moved in which stated the rent to br $450, a month and $5400 a year . I signed this contract. Every year after I receive a letter stating that the rent is to be raised twenty five dollars amonth effective in July. My original lease began on May 1. The original lease states that it would automaticly renew unless sixty days notice is given to vacate. However there is never a yearly lease drawn up stating that the rent is now a new amount. I have only ever signed an agreement to the $450. Is this legal on my landlords part? Would a new lease be need to be drawn yearly if the rent amount is going to change? Would I be able to recoup any of the money I paid over the past two years due to the fact that a lease contract was not drafted and signed agreeing to the new amount?
