Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I'm having a few problems with my landlord and any advice would be appreciated. The biggest problem I'm having right now revolvs around my rent to own lease agreement. First, I will give a bit of background on the situation.

I first bought the mobile home in April, was told that there was one small leak wrong with the home and I accepted the terms that I would fix that. We agreed that on top of the 355 a month lot rent I would pay 100 dollars a month and the home would be paid of by September 2009. The landlord's...mistress took the paperwork and said she needed to have the serial number added in June 2008, and I have been fighting to get it back. Now I have a posting on my door that they are adding intrest to the payment and extending it to January 2010. Now...in the past almost year that I have lived here, our pipes, the water heater, and the furnance have all broken. We currently have no heat or hot water. I don't know if he is supposed to cover the fixes while it's in the rent state or not. Further more I am unable to get insurance on the house because I have no serial number. I have sent two written requests (Which were kept on record) to the manager's office in a span of two months and have not heard anything. Now he is raising the lot rent (which is the highest around as it is) and charging for the small dog I have, even though I'm buying the home? I'm not sure what my options are at this point...

When I bought the home I put down a 2000 dollars deposit...is there a chance I could get that back and just leave?

If I decide not to leave, what are my rights in respect to the situation?

Your guidence is appreciated. Thank you.

Best Regards,
Christina

Do you have a copy of what you provided? Unfortunately getting back your deposit will be difficult if the current owner isn't willing to give it back to you. Your written requests were good and it may be time to just go to small claims and housing court. You may wish to send a certified letter documenting everything with regard to your intentions to do what you must do to see whether they care. What I'm missing is how interest due is being tacked on - where is this coming from? There's a part to this story I don't have just yet.
