I know this is probably perfectly legal, but I am just wondering. We bought from a buy here pay here place. At the time we were staying with friends. Could not remember their address but my husband said that he thought it was lot # 320 (in a trailer park). Well then he missed a payment and they sent a letter. Letter came back to them, so they repoed the car on the basis that we lied to them about our address. Thing is... the addy they had was the lot next door; we were #319! Can they do that, if they can't prove that we purposely gave the wrong address? Thanks!

You mean, what can you do, now that they've REPOED the car, right?

You can go discuss the situation with them and ask them IF they'll give you another chance.

They were given the INCORRECT address, (319) vs (320).

Sorry, they are merely ENFORCING their rights on the contract you agreed to by signing same!

The repo was for failure to pay.
The address really had nothing to do with it.
Had you sent your payment on time they would never have known about the address problem.

It's your responsibility to know when your bills are due & see that they are paid whether you receive anything through the mail or not.

We had an arrangement with the dealership to pay two weeks instead of one they said we could change it like that and it it is their policy to send out a letter even if you do have an arrangement. Our bank does the same thing. The dealership said we could get the car back on Wed when we paid the two weeks but then the finance co. said NO because of the address.
