My truck was repossessed in Nov. 2005 - sold by bank at auction Feb. 2006.
Do I still owe personal property taxes (VA) for the year 2006 even though the
truck was not in my possession?

You may have to for the portion of 2006, I'm not sure. While the company may have had physical custody of the vehicle you might still be the title holder. An accountant might know the answer to this question and you can contest the taxation with the government and show them that you did not possess the vehicle in 2006. Good luck.
