Yesterday, a friend (18 years old) and I (19 years old) stole 54 dollars worth of merchandise from a large retail store in Illinois. Seperately, we each stole around 25 dollars worth, but they combined our items and we are both being charged for all of the items together. We left the store and were asked to come back in. We did so, and were cooperative the entire time. They took pictures of the items, and asked us for all of our information. We were given papers saying that we would receiving the requirement of payment for the items and the fine for the theft. Police arrived, we were searched and arrested. They took us to the police station where we were were fingerprinted, given our court dates, and released.
I have never felt so terrible in my life. This will definately NEVERR happen again. I feel disguisting, and just so ashamed. I am just so worried, as I should be. I made a terrible mistake and I know i have to suffer the consequences of my actions. I am just scared of what will happen now. What do you think the judge will sentence us to? Jail time? Community service? Heavy fines? i am extra worried about how I will pay everything. Obviously I am stressed for cash or i wouldn't be in this predicament. What am I looking at in terms of punishment?
