My boyfriend lives in Wisconsin. He got a car from a dealership and had a two year loan on it. His dad was in trouble and my boyfriend ended up selling his car to someone so he could help his dad. He did not talk to me about it and did not know that he could not sell the car technically because he did not own it. The guy who bought the car kept calling the local police station stating that my boyfriend would not give him the title. But my boyfriend can't give him the title because it has a lean on it because there is still a loan out. Long story short, the cops in wisconsin are trying to say that my boyfriend has to give the guy he sold the car to all of his money back by monday or they will arrest him and hold him. Is this legal??? Because I have talked to the police here in the state I live and they say that is not even a matter they would get involved with and that they would have adviced the man to just sue him in concilliation court. Just wanted to know if they can really arrest him and what he would be charged with?
