I have been with my apartment complex for 3 yrs. The management has changed now, FOUR times!
I requested a work order a couple of weeks ago for 3 or the 4 bedroom outlets not working, air filter to be changed, walk-in closet light not working (sometimes it will come on but most of the time it doesn't) and the kitchen light wasn't working (well.....it would just constantly flicker). One of the maint. guys came early last week and changed the filter and the kitchen light. He checked the wires to the outlets and said he didn't see anything wrong with them, therefore, he'd have to get his boss to come and look at them. Thinking he'd come back that day! Two days go by and still no word. My kitchen light had been changed but it still flickers when you first turn it on, then it eventually stays on.
Anyways......so I called last thurs morning btwn 9:30-10 and said that I was going to be home until 2 and that I wanted to be there when they entered my apt. Therefore, call me before you come. No word! I'm about to leave my apt at 2 and two maint. guys knock on my door. I said, "Well, I'm leaving now! you'll have to come back." He said...."Is there a reason we can't come in?"
My problem......I DON'T just trust people. Especially guys in my bedroom and closet! I called in the work order. I'm not calling and complaining that things still aren't fixed. However, I call today and say that I'm not gonna be around but they can go ahead and enter my apt. They pass the phone off to the new mgr and she says....well actually, we're tying up a notice to inform you that we will be in your apt tomorrow. Whether you're there or not!!!
My signed lease says: IF you or any guest or occupant is present, then repairers, servicers, contractors, and our representitives may peacefully enter the apt at reasonable times for the purposes listed below. EXCEPT in the case of emergency or if it is impracticable to do so, we will provide you with reasonable notice of our intent to enter the apt at reasonable times. Twenty-four hours is presumed to be reasonable notice. If no one is in the premises, and your request is authorization for us to enter at reasonable times by duplicate or master key. We reserve the right to enter by other means if locks have been changed in violation of the lease.
I am FURIOUS that they have taken into their own hands to enter my apt without me being present. I am a student and am working a clinical so I can't be here.
Does this not sound right to anybody else???
