I was pulled over and arrested 5 years ago in Austin (Travis County) for driving on a suspended license and released on bond. However, the matter went unresolved, and a few weeks ago I was pulled over and arrested again for the same charge. When I appeared in court I was given a two week extension to find an attorney. I spoke to an attorney today who told me that if I waived my right to county I would be re-arrested and my bond would be raised. I would also be arrested if I demanded a court-appointed attorney. Can this be true? Arrested on what grounds? It seems unconstitutional...
