My jurisdiction is: VA

I have been renting an apartment since July of 2008. My apartment, as with all the units, came with an alarm system. I signed my lease/contract with the alarm system as part of the agreement. I also paid a 25.00 activation fee. There is nothing in the fine print that says that Management can cancel the alarm system at any time. Well about a month ago letters were distributed to all residents, from Property Management, stating that they were no longer going to be contracting with the Alarm company and the alarm systems will be removed from our homes in March. Okay, is this right? Is this what they call a breach of contract? Do I have any rights? Honestly, I would not have moved in to a first floor apartment with two small children if there was not an alarm system. I have also noticed a lot of people moving out. What is the coincidence that both of my upstair neighbors move out on the same week.
Please advise.

This is not a legal reason to break your lease without the risk of financial penalty.

You can consider moving out when your lease is over (after giving appropriate notice if required in your lease) or you can consider subletting your apartment (again, if allowed in the lease) to be able to move out earlier.
