Roommate/Lease problem

I am on a current month to month lease with my roommate in California. She has informed me that she decided that her boyfriend will be moving in at the end of May. I do not want him to move in and am wondering what, if any, legal rights I have surrounding this. Since it is a month to month lease does that mean that she can just sign a new lease with just her boyfriend and herself at any time (essentially forcing me to move out if I don't get on board with the new lease), since our month to month lease "ends" each month? (In other words, should I try to do this first so I get to keep the place?). Or does neither one of us have the ability to change the month to month lease (to something the other roommate is unwilling to agree with) other than giving notice to the landlord of ending our involvement in it?

How many people can live in the property per the lease agreement?

The lease agreement doesn't specify how many people can live in the apartment (other than that it lists the names of the current lessees). Its a two bedroom place so I believe California law would allow for up to 4-5 people to live there.
