My jurisdiction is: PA
My roommate never moved out at the end of the lease. She has been there for 7 months after the lease ended and is seriously delinquent in rent. The landlord refused to evict her due to her age, 62 years old. She currently has a job working 20 hours a week.
I left within a week of the end of the lease. I provided written notice that I was leaving 90 days before the end of the lease. I noted that a new lease would need to be completed for my roommate who planned to stay.
I received a letter from the MGMT office noting that they received my letter. They also accepted my keys when I returned them to the rental office.
They have not provided me with any lists of damages within 30 days (which I didn't incur anyway). The rent was caught up when I left.
The office told my ex-roommate that she did not qualify for lease renewal because my roommate no longer made enought money shortly after I left. She's still there and owes them $8000.
Am I liable for ex-roommates rent of $8000?
