I entered into a lease last month for a two-bedroom apartment with another person. Now that other person wants to let another person move in.
The landlord said when we moved in that if we wanted to add another person to the apartment, s/he would have to be on the lease. So the roommate wants to add this other person to the lease.
My stance is that I signed the lease with my roommate, and if he and/or the landlord wants to add someone to the lease, it would be amending the contract, and I would have to sign a new or amended contract. There's no special clause allowing amendment without consent of all parties.
But if I understand contract law correctly, this would be an amendment, and require consent of all parties, right?
Thanks in advance.
