roommate will not accept replacement roommate

I have been transferred and must move. Roommate says he will not accept another roommate and that I must terminate lease with property management and pay the two months termination fee. Do I have no recourse in getting my roommate to accept a roommate replacement. My complex does not allow subleasing.

Unfortunately unless such a provision is in your lease, you cannot make your roommate accept another person to replace you.

When you say you are being trasferred are you in the military service?
