I need to know if Legal action can be taken against a former employee of a Auto Repair shop for a tortious claim. The (former) manager talked the employees of jumping ship while the owners were on vacation. Giving no notice of leaving and having no one working there on Monday morning. The (former) Manager also made calls to all vendors and customers saying that they were shutting down and that he and the employees were moving to another business and that they should take their business to the new location. The (former) Manager also tried to obtain customer name/addresses to take to another business. None of this became aware to the owners until the following monday morning when no one showed up for work and the phone calls just dropped off completely. The "shutting down" of the business was a false statement. Can the (former) Manager be held responsible for basically bankrupting a business based on false claims and sabotaging the future business.

Absolutely

As can be gleaned from the facts, I say, certainly. Proper suit can be wage against the former-manager. Have your options assessed by an Attorney.
